Biography

Mary Jones and her husband Isaac Jones were two of the grantors in a 1793 quitclaim who identified themselves as the "heirs of our father and grandfather Ephraim Jones late of Concord" and who conveyed property "which was assigned to our mother and grandmother Mary Ayres then Mary Woolcott the late relict and widow of said Ephraim Jone[s] deceased as her dower or third."

Given the above quitclaim and other evidence for Mary and Isaac, it is readily apparent that Mary, daughter of Ephraim and Mary (Hayward) Jones, was twice married to widowers. She married 29 Dec 1757, Concord, Middlesex Co., Mass. to Stephen Willis the widower of Elizabeth (Bradshaw) Willis who died 3 Dec 1756. Following Stephen's death, 12 Dec 1759, Medford, Middlesex Co., Mass., the widow Mary Willis married 4 Mar 1762, Medford, Middlesex Co., Mass. to Isaac Jones the widower of Anna (Cutler) Jones who died 31 May 1761. Thereafter, Isaac became guardian to three of Stephen Willis's children: to daughters Elizabeth and Susanna on 29 Aug 1763 and to John Willis on 7 Apr 1767.
