1898: Charles Pollard Jones (C.P.) was born on the 9th of September 1898 in Montgomery, Montgomery County[1][2], Alabama, the only son of Charles Pollard Jones and his wife Elizabeth Mae Murphy of Montgomery, Alabama. His father was a prominent lawyer and partner in the Thomas G. and Charles P. Jones Law Firm of Montgomery, Alabama.
1919: C.P. graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1919 following his uncle Gen. Samuel Goode Jones into the U. S. Army[2]. On retirement he was a Colonel (Field Artillery) and had been awarded the Legion of Merit[3] for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States in 1945 during World War II.
1925: C.P. married Frances Kimbell Armstrong on the 15th of August 1925[4] at Auburn, Lee County, Alabama, USA. His bride was the daughter of Brittain Dixon Armstrong and his wife Martha Mary Kimbell.
1979: C.P. died on the 29th of August 1979[5] in Auburn[1], Lee County, Alabama and was buried at the Pine Hill Cemetery, Auburn, Lee County, Alabama. He was survived by his wife Frances and daughters Bettie M Jones and Frances Kirk Jones.
