Biography

Harold Jones OBE is Notable.

Harold Edward Jones O.B.E. was an intelligence officer. He was appointed director of the Commonwealth Investigation Branch and Security Section in 1919.

Harold Edward Jones was born at Kalkallo, Victoria, in 1878.^[1] He was the son of George Jones and Margaret McColl.

His first marriage was to Elizabeth Amelia McKinery on 12 September 1905 in Melbourne, Victoria.^[2] Their children were Beryl, Alan, and Mervyn.

He was awarded the Order of the British Empire - Officer (Civil) (Imperial) on 19 October 1920 "For service as Intelligence Officer."^[3]

Elizabeth died in 1954.

Harold married Beryl Olivia Dooley at Bega, New South Wales, on 12 December 1957 (registered 1958).^[4]

He died on 20 September 1965 at Moruya, New South Wales,^[5][6] and was buried in Narooma Cemetery.^[7]
