Biography

Ronald Frederick Charles was born in 1921. He was the son of Frederick Jones and Elsie Eden. ^[1] He passed away in 1942 age 20. ^[2]

PLANE CRASH NEAR OHURA (P.A.) WELLINGTON. March 8. An airman pilot under training was killed when an aircraft crashed to-day near Ohura. He was Leading Aircraftman Ronald Frederick Charles Jones, R.N.Z.A.P., whoso next-of-kin is his mother, Mrs E. F. Jones, of 68 Lombard street,, Palmerston North. The airman was engaged in solo flying practice when the crash occurred. A court of inquiry will be held. ^[3]

The death occurred on Saturday afternoon, as the result of an aircraft accident near Ohura, of Leading-Aircraftman Ronald Frederick Charles Jones, of Palmerston North. Born in this city 20 years ago, he was a son of Mr and Mrs A. F. Jones, of 68 Lombard Street, Palmerston North. He was educated at College Street School, later going to the Technical School. A popular young man, he was wellknown in sports circles and was a member of the Broadway Hockey Club. Before his enlistment in the Air Force he was engaged in the mechanical branch of the newspaper industry. ^[4]
