Gilgandra Weekly (NSW : 1942 - 1955), Thursday 14 October 1948, page 3

MRS. MARY RAE FALLON It is our sad duty to report the death of a former well known and highly repected resident of the Balladoran district, in the per-son of Mrs. Mary Rae Fallon, mother of Mrs. J. Nelson, of Gilgandra. This occurred at her residence, "Claverton," 76 Fitz-roy Street, Burwood, on Monday of last week. The deceased was relict of the late Michael Fallon, who owned "Claverton," Balladoran, in the early days when it was later resumed for soldier settlement. The family then moved to Penrith, where they resided for many years on a property close to town, recently moving to Burwood. Of a charming personality, the late Mrs Fallon was esteemed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her, for she represented all the good qualities of the early pioneering stock. She spent her early life in and around the Gilgandra district and devoted the greater part of her time to her home and family. When her husband passed on, she was left with a young family whom she cared for and brought up in true Christian forti- tude. There are not many of her old friends left in this district, but those who knew her will re-gret her passing. Two children predeceased her —Mary Rae and John Rae—whilst another daughter is Mrs J. Lowry (Wagga) and one son, Julius (Wagga). The latter two were in the plane which made a forced landing at Yass, when on their way to the funeral. Brothers of deceased are Messrs. John Rae Johnstone (Tooraweenah) and Harry Johnstone (Eumungerie). The remains were cremated at the Rookwood Crematorium on Wed-nesday, the last sad rites being largely attended. TROVE [1]
