Alfred Johnston was born in Montana in 1904. He was the son of Francis Johnston and Martha Thompson. He passed away in 1972 and was buried in the Valley View Cemetery, Pony, Madison County, Montana.[1]
Alfred E. Johnston, 68, of Pony, passed away in his home early Saturday. He was born April 28, 1904 near Bozeman, and had been a rancher near Pony for 40 years. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Mount Madison Odd Fellows No. 26 and Superior Rebekah Lodge 82. He was a past president of District 10 Odd Fellows. He married Maudie A, Eaton, July 2, 1925. She survives. Also surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. & Mrs Robert Johnston, Deer Lodge; four grandchildren; brothers, Vivian Johnston, C reswell, Ore., Harold Johnston, Bellevue, Ida.; sisters Mrs Paul Thigpen, Spanish Forte, Utah, Mrs Henry Eaton of Renton, Wash., Mrs Della Selby of Fontana, Calif., Mrs Harry Fay of Missoula, Mrs Jewel Gopp of Creswell, Ore., Mrs. Don Hecox of Belle Fourche, S.D., Mrs. John Ronning of Whitehall, and Mrs. William George of Butte.
Services were held Tuesday at the Pony Presbyterian Church with Rev Paul Ryan officiating. Burial was in the Pony Cemetery, K & L Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Pony Presbyterian Church.[2]
