Robert was born 1 May 1766 in Stratford, Connecticut. ^[1] He was the son of William Samuel Johnson and Elizabeth Ann (Beach) Johnson. ^[1]

He died on 24 Sep 1806 in Stratford, Fairfield, Connecticut. ^{[2] [3]}

His inventory was completed on 25 October 1806 in Stratford. It was represented as insolvent.^[4]

In 1808, an account of his estate was recorded in Stratford.^[5]

In 1814, land grants in North Carolina and Tennessee were recorded at Stratford by the guardian, Samuel Williams Johnson of the heirs of Robert Charles Johnson.^[6]
