Sam Houston Johnson was born into the Samuel Ealy Jr and Rebekah (Baines) Johnson family in Johnson City Texas on January 31, 1914.
Sam went to the Southwest Texas State Teachers College, his brother President Johnson also attended the school. He also attended the University of Texas in Austin. Sam's Law Degree was obtained through attending Cumberland School of Law in Kentucky.
Sam worked in various capacities for his older brother President Johnson. Sam worked for Congressman Richard M. Kleberg as his chief aide. He came into that position taking his brothers place, since his brother had been appointed as Director of the National Youth Association.
When WWll developed Sam took a position with the War Production Board , he was also a member of his brother's Senate staff
Sam wrote a book "My Brother Lyndon" published in 1970 by Cowles Books , In Sam's obituary he is quoted as saying , "Anyone that works for Lyndon more then thirty days desrves a Purple Heart".
In Sam's later life, he worked as an Executive in an Insurance company and as a representative for an International Trucking Co.
