Biography

William Johnson was an early or significant Bermudan.

William JOHNSON was the son of John Johnson, a London Merchant and nephew of Alderman Robert Johnson of London.^[1]

William marries Mary FOARD/FORD September 22nd, 1638.^[2] Mary is the daughter of Lewis FOARD and Alice -----.

Both William and Lewis FOARD are appointed power of attorneys for John Johnson's affairs in the Sommer Islands on Aug 20, 1638.^[2]

William and Mary have the following children:^[2]

1. Mary (m. William Hall)
2. Edward^[1] (m1. Mary -----.; m2. Martha Outerbridge nee Stowe; m3. Rebecca ----)
3. John^[1] (m. Sarah Burgess)

William passed between the signing of his will March 15, 1649/50 and April 9, 1650. At the signing of his will his living issues are noted as Edward and John. His wife, Mary is noted as executor.^[2]

It is mentioned that William Johnson is Counsellor of Pembroke, 1649 by Henry FOARD.^[1]

William was a big purchase of slaves, negro and mullato children.^[1][2]
