Pvt. James Lafayette Johnson was the younger brother of Elisha Albert Johnson, they both enlisted with the Union Army on 5 June 1863 and both were mustered into Company A of the 2nd Tennessee Infantry.[1]
James and Elisha were captured by the Confederate Army on 6 November 1863 at Rogersville, Tennessee. They were imprisoned at Andersonville, where both brothers died, Elisha died two days before James died on 20 May 1864 of Diarrhea. James is buried in the Andersonville National Cemetery Row 1227.[2][3]
