Biography
Andrea John-Smith is the daughter of Richard Warren John and Vivienne Colette Murphy. She lives in Seattle Washington with her husband Darryl Smith. They have a daughter Sofia Alexandra Smith who was born in 1996.
Andrea is a nonprofit executive director, active in social justice, community change work, especially in education. She attended St Rita's school -- part of the St Rita's parish In Sierra Madre California, then Highland Oaks School in Arcadia, Foothills Junior High and Arcadia High School before graduating in 1982 and attending University of California Berkeley. After college, she pursued a career in the arts as a jazz vocalist before meeting her professional stage actor husband Darryl and moving to Los Angeles. In 1992, Andrea and her husband decided to move to Seattle. There, they ultimately bought a home in the Rainier Valley and had their daughter Sofia.
Sofia now works for the New York Times and lives in New York City.
