Richard Crosby (1812-1900), m. Augusta Ann Johnson[1][4]
He was a soldier of the American Revolution. He enlisted while a resident of Chester District and served at various times until the close of the Revolution, amounting to more than 19-1/2 months with the South Carolina troops. During that time, he served under Captains David Hopkins, Richard Winn, Trammel, Otterson, John Thomson, George Avery, and Thomas Baker; in the regiments of Colonels William Thompson, Brandon, Farr, and Hampton. At Satilla River, he was taken prisoner and held on parole for six months. He was also in the Siege of Ninety-Six. He was allowed a pension for his service.[5][6]
On 4 May 1839 he wrote a will, in which he mentions his wife Mary and married children A.V. Jeter, James Jeter, Eliabeth Gregory, L.B. Jeter, John C. Jeter, Richard C. Jeter, Thomas C. Jeter, David S. Jeter, and Sally Jeter. He also mentions a grandson, son of Eleazer (presumed to be a deceased son).[4]
James Jeter passed away on 16 Mar 1840 at Union District, South Carolina.[1] He was buried at Jeter Cemetery, Santuc, Union County, South Carolina.[7]
