Biography

Samuel was born in 1794. He was the son of Samuel Jerrard and Polly Clapcott. His christening took place shortly after his first birthday on 20 October 1795 in Chideock, Dorset, England.

He lived with his parents; when old enough, he ran the family farm.

At the census of 1841 he was living on Milton Farm, Milton Abbas, Dorset, with his parents and 3 sisters. ^[1]

The family was living on Long Close, Milton Abbas, at the time of the 1851 census. Samuel's father had died, but he still had 3 sisters living with him and his mother. ^[2] Samuel's occupation is "Farmer".

For the 1871 census he and his sister Charlotte had moved to St Sidwell, Devon, England and his occupation changed to "retired farmer". ^[3]

By 1881, he and his sister were living on Lower St Leonard's Street, Exeter, Devon. ^[4]

He died on 13 December 1890 in Exeter. An obituary appeared in the Western Times on 19 December. ^[5]
