He was married to Sarah Mitchell.^{[citation needed]} Their children were:

• Mary Elizabeth Mitchell (Jenkin) Stocks (1865–1910)^[1]
• William Henry Jenkin (1880– )^[2]

John died on 26 May 1892 in Burwood, Victoria, Australia, aged 43 years.^[3]
