Biography

Magdalena Janke was born 6 May 1863 in Plotzk, Bessarabia to Christoph Janke and Anna Maria Schlechter.[1]

She immigrated to the USA in 1879 at age 16, along with her parents Christoph 51 and Marie 48, and her siblings: Christian 26, Justine 24, Friedrich 12, and Gottfried aged 10.[2][3] In the 1880 US Census we see her in South Dakota with her extended family.[4]

1. LETA WEBER was born in Scotland, Bon Homme Co., SD 14 Mar 1881. LETA died 11 Feb 1957, in Washington, D.C., at 75 years of age. She married twice. She married CHARLES G. HIMRICH in Fessenden, Wells Co., ND, 28 Mar 1897: Charles Himrich, Wells Co., ND, aged 27 years and Leta Webber, Wells Co., ND, aged 18 years. Witnesses: Simon Dallman, Dora Weber. Married by H(onorable) U. Brownlee, Justice of the Peace. CHARLES was born in Russia 27 Aug 1869. He died 22 Aug 1939, in Pelican Rapids, Otter Tail Co., MN. She married GEORGE DAUGHERTY after 1939. GEORGE was born about 1880. He died in Bethesda, Montgomery Co., MD.

2. DOROTHEA “Dora” WEBER was born in South Dakota 29 Apr 1882. DORA died 16 Feb 1978, in Hamilton, Ravalli Co., MT, at 95 years of age. She was buried in Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey, Wells Co., ND., Plot: Sec. 3, Row 15., She married SIMON "SAM" DALLMAN. SIMON was born 16 Sep 1871, Russia. SIMON was the son of WILHELM DALLMAN and JUSTINE TRIEBWASSER. He died 18 Dec 1958, Wells Co., ND. He was buried in Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey, Wells Co., ND.

3.. MAGDALENA MARTHA "LENA" WEBER was born in Delmont, Douglas Co., SD 30 Apr 1883. MAGDALENA died 3 Feb 1945, in San Leandro, CA, at 61 years of age. She had diabetes. She was buried in Echo Memorial Cemetery, Echo, Umatilla Co., OR., Block 22 Lot 6 Grave 1. She married twice. She married JOHN GIMBEL in Fessenden, Wells Co., ND, about 1898.17 JOHN was born in Peterstal, Russia, 3 Jan 1875.18 JOHN was the son of SIMON GIMBEL and BARBARA PFAFF. JOHN died 8 Nov 1906, in Harvey, Wells Co., ND, at 31 years of age. Conflicting evidence states that JOHN was born in Peterstal, Russia, 17 May 1882. He was buried in Harvey, Wells Co., ND, Eigenheim Cemetery. She married JOHANN “John” DALLMAN in Fessenden, Wells Co., ND, 12 May 1908. JOHANN was born in Paris, Bessarabia, Russia, 10 Oct 1878. (Additional notes for JOHANN DALLMAN 21) JOHANN was the son of WILHELM DALLMAN and JUSTINE TRIEBWASSER. He died 12 Jun 1965, in Umatilla Co., OR. He was buried in Echo Memorial Cemetery, Echo, Umatilla Co., OR, Block 22 Lot 6 Grave 2.

4. MARY WEBER was born in Scotland, Bon Homme Co., SD 28 Jun 1885. MARY died 25 Mar 1963, in Alameda Co., CA at 77 years of age. She married twice. She married ALBERT THORPE. He was born about 1884 in CA. He likely died between 1920-30. She married ERNEST BENJAMIN MELLO between 1920-30. He was born 22 Feb 1893, in CA. ERNEST was the son of THOMAS PERRY MELLO and MATILDA FO(R)SHAY. He died 10 Oct 1962 in Contra Costa Co., CA. He was buried in Jackson City Cemetery, Jackson, Amador Co., CA. MARY was listed on the roll as a student in Fessenden, Wells Co., ND, 26 Mar 1900, St. Anna School District. In the Teacher's Report, she is listed as Mary Weber, age 13. She received an 85 in Reading, 90 in Writing, 95 in Spelling, 90 in Arithmetic, 90 in Language, 85 in Geography, 85 in History, and 87 in Physiology.

5. JACOB G. WEBER was born in Aberdeen, Brown Co., SD 4 Aug 1887. JACOB died 2 Jun 1972, in Hamilton, Ravalli Co., MT, at 84 years of age. He was buried in Riverview Cemetery, Hamilton, Ravalli Co., MT, Plot 4N-54-3. He married ELIZABETH MARIA BLUM in Castor, Alberta, Canada, 28 May 1911. ELIZABETH was born in Corona, SD, 22 Oct 1894. ELIZABETH was the daughter of WILLIAM BLUM and MARY QUADE. She died 15 Feb 1984, Hamilton, Ravalli Co., MT. She was buried in Riverview Cemetery, Hamilton, Ravalli Co., MT, Plot 4N-54-6. JACOB was listed on the roll as a student in Fessenden, Wells Co., ND, 26 Mar 1900, St. Anna School District. In the Teacher's Report, he is listed as Jacob Weber, age 11. He received an 80 in Reading, 75 in Writing, 80 in Spelling, 95 in Arithmetic, and 70 in Language. JACOB's occupation: Timber/Lumber business.

6. FREDERICK WEBER was born in North Dakota Sep 1892. FREDERICK was listed on the roll as a student in Fessenden, Wells Co., ND, 26 Mar 1900. In the Teacher's Report, he is listed as Fred Weber, age 8. He received a 90 in Reading, 90 in Writing, 80 in Spelling, and 100 in Arithmetic.

7. MINNIE M. WEBER was born in North Dakota May 1895. MINNIE died in North Dakota. Minnie died as a young child.

8. KATIE WEBER was born in North Dakota Jan 1897.

9. WILLIAM CHRIST WEBER was born in North Dakota 12 Nov 1899. In the 1930 census, he was married to Loraine, born 1905, Nebraska. In the 1940 census, he was married to Mae born 1907 in Nebraska. These may be the same woman. He resided in Windsor, Sonoma Co., CA 1991. WILLIAM died 24 Sep 1991 in Placer Co., CA.
