Ken Monk, "It is believed that Augustine Janke was born in Holland Township, Grey County, Ontario, Canada. Shortly after she was born her mother, Caroline Albrecht, died. Her father, Gottfried Janke, must have put her up for adoption with his brother's family, namely Christian Janke and Justine Eitner. By 1889, when she married, she considered Christian Janke and Justine to be her adopted parents. Additionally the Lipskis are listed as her godparents upon her baptism."
