Biography

Luke James was born about 1817 in Tarrant-Rawston, Dorset, England and baptised there on 27th June 1817. His mother was Hannah James, a single woman. His father was Richard Muston (recorded as Mucton on Luke James's second marriage), who married his mother on 12 Apr 1820 in Tarrant Rawston, Dorset. [1][2][3]

Luke James was married to (1) Sarah Christopher by Banns on 04 Feb 1834 in Tarrant-Rawston, Dorset, England, United Kingdom. Mary Maidment and Hannah Hughes were witnesses. [4][5][6]

In 1841, Luke and Sarah James (both in the 25 years age bracket) had four children, William (5), George (7), Elias (3) and Mary (6 months) living with them in Tarrant Rawston, Dorset. [7]

In 1851, Luke (32) and Sarah (38) had six sons, George (16), William (14), Elias (12), Charles (10), Fredrick (5) and John James (3) living with them in Tarrant Rawston, Dorset. [8]

In 1861, Luke and Sarah James had four sons, Charles (20), Fredrick (16), John (14) and Isaac (8) and two boarders, George Christopher (45, who is probably Sarah's relative) and Luke's brother, Albert Muston (25) living with them in Tarrant Rawston, Dorset. [9]

Luke's wife, Sarah died in 1870 and was buried on 26 Feb 1870 in Tarrant-Rawston. [10][11]

In 1871, widower, Luke James (51, ag.lab.) and his son, Charles (30) were living in Tarrant Rawston, Dorset. [12]

Luke James, the son of Richard Mucton (Muston) married (2) Keren Harris on 26 Oct 1875 in Tarrant-Rawston, Dorset, England, UK. [13]

In 1881, Luke (63, an ag.lab.) and his wife, Keren (66, born Shapwick, Dorset) were living in Tarrant Rawston, Dorset, a couple of doors from Luke's son, Frederick (35, ag.lab.), his wife, Bethia (43), their daughter, Mary (8) and a niece. [14]

Luke James died age 71 years and was buried on 13 May 1889 in Tarrant-Rushton, Dorset, England, UK. [15][16]
