Biography
Thomas James is a part of US Black heritage.
Sergeant Thomas James served in the United States Army in World War I Service started: 15 Jul 1917 Unit(s): Co. E, 372nd Infantry Service ended: 6 Mar 1919
Thomas Walter James was born on 26 Jun 1893 in Springfield, Clark County, Ohio in the United States of America. He was the son of Thomas James and Julia Smith.[1] He lived in Springfield his whole life.[2][3]
Thomas served in the US Army in World War I. He was a sergeant in Co E of the 372nd Infantry, which served in France as part of the AEF (American Expeditionary Forces). He served from 15 Jul 1917 to 6 Mar 1919.[3][4][5][6] He was in France when his father died in Jan 1919.[7]
Thomas married Annie Taylor on 9 Sep 1922.[8] They had a son in about 1923, then Anna died of tuberculosis in 1924.[9][10] After her death, Thomas lived with his mother for years.[9][11]
Sometime between 1940 and 1950, Thomas married a woman named Marie.[3][12]
Thomas died on 22 Jan 1960 at his home in Springfield, Clark County, Ohio.[3][13] He was buried in Ferncliff Cemetery in Springfield.[4]
