Biography
Cornelius James is a part of US Black heritage.
Cornelius is the son of Lawrence and Jane (Johnson) James.[1] He worked as a grocer in Ironton. He married 1) Polly Randolph on 22 Nov 1873 at Lawrence County, Ohio.[2] Among their children are:
- Carrie Belle, b. 10 Mar 1875; d. in infancy
- Bertha, b. 03 Apr 1881; m. Mr. Smith; d. 12 Mar 1948
James married 2) Esther Reynolds, daughter of Franklin and Mary (Thacker) Reynolds and granddaughter of America, on 01 Jun 1892 at Lawrence, Ohio.[3]. Among their children are:
- Lawrence Cornelius, b. 29 Sep 1899; was a janitor and musician; d. 17 Feb 1963 in Chicago, Illinois
