Carl Freidrich Wilhelm Jahnke was born in 1858 in Juchow, Kreis Neustettin, Pommern, Prussia, Germany. [1]

Carl married Ida Fredericke Wihelmine Born on 9 Mar 1884 in Brozen, Kreis Deutsch Krone, Westpreussen. [1]

He emigrated to Queensland with his family via the ship Merkara, arriving 11th January 1887.

Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Janke died on 17 Sep 1938 in Kulpi, Toowoomba Region, Queensland, Australia and was buried in the Ropeley Lutheran Cemetery, Ropeley, Queensland. [1] [2]

  2. MR. C. F. W, JANKE. ROPELEY. September 23. An old pioneer of the district, Mr. Carl Friedrich 'Wilhelm Janke, passed away on Saturday morning, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. Kleidon, and Mr. Kleidon, of Kulpi. The late Mr. Janke was born In Germany on October 7, 1858. He was married in Germany and came to Australia in the year 1887. They settled in this district, and were engaged in farming. Mrs. Janke died on April 21, four years ago. The late Mr. Janke leaves four sons. and nine daughters, also 85 grandchildren, and 33 great grandchildren. The late Mr. Janke a few weeks ago expressed a desire to visit a son and daughter living in the Kulpi district. While there he was taken ill and confined to bed. He passed away after a few weeks. His remains were brought to Ropeley, where Pastor Kohler conducted the services at the house and at the graveside last Sunday afternoon, in the German and English languages From the Queensland Times published 24th September 1938:
