Biography

Dora Jacobsen was born in Norway^[1] and emigrated to Minnesota when she was 14. She married Thomas Benson in Benson, Minnesota, when she was 19. They made their home in Benson for five years before moving to a homestead near Appleton. They moved into Appleton in 1885, where Thomas started a store. The lived over the store until they built a home on what became Miles street. Dora was active in the Norwegian Lutheran Church.^[2]

Dora died at age 79 and is buried in Appleton Cemetery.^[3]
