Biography
Marie was born in 1939 and died in 2021.
She was an unexpected surprise for her parents.
She went to East St. Louis High School, where she met her future husband, Richard Cox.
Richard and Marie got married on December 22, 1956. A few months later they welcomed their first child, a girl. Their first three were girls, followed by a son, another daughter, and another son.
In May, 1973, Marie's father died. In June, the little girl she gave birth to died after just 21 hours. Marie and Richard knew that the easiest way to ease the pain of the loss was to have another baby. A son was born in August of the next year.
The greatest surprise was the birth of a daughter on the 25th wedding anniversary.
She became a widow in December of 2020, and followed Richard one year and four days later.
Marie was a devoted wife, a dedicated mother, and a beloved grandmother.
She loved Jesus, spending the last months of her life listening to her oldest daughter read Max Lucado books to her and praying.
On October 13, 2021 her granddaughter's granddaughter was born. Marie had a picture taken of all five generations when the baby was about 2 weeks old.
