Samuel Jacklin was born c. 1720 in New London, Connecticut, son of Robert and Hagar Jacklin.
On 22 Aug 1742, "Samuel Jacklin, free negro" was baptized in New Canaan, Connecticut. He was admitted to the church on 3 July 1743[1]
From the book Tapestry: [2] He and his brother James bought land in New Canaan. James sold his land to his brothers Samuel and John in 1747.
Samuel and his wife, Sarah, resided in southern Ridgefield, where they acquired a 50-acre farm and not only raised livestock and crops, but also kept bees, brewed beer, and made cheese.[3]
Samuel died in 1780. His will was probated 1 March 1780, and he names "Joseph Jacklin of Ridgefield" as his sole heir.
