WORLD WAR II WOMEN'S ARMY CORPS VETERAN

Willie was born on 16 Jun 1923 in Georgia to Will Arthur "Buddy" Irvin and Maggie Lee Lewis.

Willie served as a Private in the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion during World War II. Their mission was to help sort and distribute an enormous backlog of mail addressed to the 7 million American soldiers and government workers stationed in Europe. They believed that no mail = low morale.

She passed away from Kidney Cancer at the age of 66 on 10 Jan 1990 in Atlanta, Georgia.
