Alexander (Innes) Innes XVIIIth of that ilk is a member of Clan Innes.
Cromy[1] was land held from the crown and after his father was killed at Pinkie in 1547 Alexander received confirmation of his title on behalf of the infant Mary, Queen of Scots.[2]
Shortly after the death of his father, in May 1548, Alexander was forcibly evicted from several of the properties formerly held by his father. Responsible for the eviction was Alexander Innes, the 14th laird. The lands were those of Frosterseat, Dunkinty, Scotstonhill, Kirktown St Andrews, Kirkhill, Moneddie, Elrick and Culvy. They were not returned to the family until after his death 40 years later by decree of the Lords of Council.[3]
In 1578 the 17th Laird resigned his title in favour of Alexander.
Murdered in April 1580 in Aberdeen by his kinsman Robert Innes of Innermarkie. The dramatic circumstances are related in [4], see also[5].
