Biography

Walter was born 1/28/1818 in New York. His father was George Ink (NJ) and his mother was Mary Rose "Polly" Emory (NY). Walter married Hannah (surname unknown) and they adopted Charles "Charlie" Pratt Ink who was born about 1864 and died 11/16/1876. In 1850 Walter and Hannah were living in Franklin Township, Morrow, Ohio where he was a farmer. Walter fought for the Union in the US Civil War. By 1870 Walter and Hannah and their adopted son Charlie were living in Sutter, California where Walter was a farmer. By 1879 Walter was registered to vote in Cloverdale, Sonoma, California where the family settled. Walter died 3/16/1899 and Walter, Hannah, and Charlie are all buried in the Santa Rosa Rural Cemetery (Plot Rural MC 29).
