Biography

Faith (Ingalls) Allin immigrated to New England as a child during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640).

Birth
Burleigh (1903) gives Faith's birth year as 1623.[1] Since her father, Edmund Ingalls, migrated to New England in 1628, she was likely born in England, possibly Skirbeck, Lincolnshire, where her father originated. She is named in her father's will, which is recorded by Burleigh[1] and copied in the the profile of her father. In 1976, Threlfall published the findings of records in Skirbech that include Faith's baptism of 14 July 1622. While the baptism names only her father, Edmund, there is a marriage record of Edmund Ingalls to Annis Telbe on 7 Jun 1618, followed by baptisms of Faith's known siblings.[2]

Marriage
Torrey's New England Marriages recorded Faith's marriage to Andrew Allyn as "by 28 Aug 1648; Andover".[3] Her marriage to Andrew Allen is also noted by Perley (1899), where Faith is said to be "of Lynn".[4]

Children
Children of Faith and Andrew Allin/Allen/Allyn are given by Perley (1899):[4] Mary, Hannah, Sarah, Andrew, Martha, and John.

Death
A death record for Faith (Ingalls) Allin has not been found. Perley (1899) notes that she survived her husband who died in Oct 1690, hence her date of death is "after 1690".[4] The data originally recorded in this profile has no known source: "Died October 6, 1690, in Andover, Massachusetts, at the age of 68."

It is recorded that Faith's daughter, Mary Toothaker, was killed on the 5th August 1695 in Billerica, Middlesex, Colony of Massachusetts, British Colonial America.

A Faith Allen, aged 74 in 1695, is listed in the Ancestry database, "Middlesex County, Massachusetts Deponents, 1649-1700." [index only]

Has anybody seen that Middlesex record?

Might this be the last known proof of life for *this* Faith Allen???

One avenue to try is Melinde Lutz Sanborn's Ages from court records 1636 to 1700, published in 2003. I'd ask on G2G if anyone owns a copy or try to find it in a library willing to do a quick lookup for you. I assume it will list the court records where the data is found.

I've updated the narrative to include the reference to the Bishop's Transcripts as published by Threlfall in 1976.

S.Kerns, In 1976, Threlfall published an article in The American Genealogist where he shared his findings of the Bishop's Transcripts records from Skirbech, Lincolnshire. It shows the 1618 marriage of Edmund Ingalls to Annis Telbe, followed by baptisms of several children (only father Edmund named), including Faith in 1622. If you're a member of NEHGS, you can find this article here.

What is the source used to assert that Faith's mother was "Annis Telbe"?
