Biography

John was a Friend (Quaker)

It is not known when he emigrated to America, nor who his parents were. His marriage records do not show his parentage.

On 1 May 1706 the Falls Monthly Meeting recorded that John and Phebe Kirkbride posed their intention to marry, it being the second time. The meeting gave them liberty to marry.[1] John's wife Phebe apparently died in 1722, but I have not found a record of her death. On 24 May 1726 John married Sarah Burges (Burgess) at the Falls Monthly Meeting.[2] Per the book A genealogical history of the Dupuy family, the children of John and Phebe were: John, Joseph, Thomas, Michael, Randall, Nehemiah and Hannah. The children of John and Sarah were: Priscilla, Phebe, Mary, Samuel and Mercy. [3] John passed away in 1745. His will was proved on 27 Nov 1745.[4]

This profile representing John Hutchinson of Falls Township is incorrectly attached to Thomas and Dorothy Hutchinson of New Jersey.

Thomas and Dorothy did have a son named John, sourced here: John Hutchinson (-1704).

Briefly there are two types of sources proving John, the son of Thomas Hutchinson of Burlington, New Jersey was not this man.

Land records: a 1695/6 deed calls John Hutchinson of Burlington County the son and heir of Thomas Hutchinson of said county. This John is actively sell and buying land in Burlington County 1695-1704; over twenty deeds include his name. It's cited on his profile, and you can also search Early Land Records for John Hutch*.

John's own will: in 1704, John wrote a will where he names his sisters Dorothy (wife of Zebulon Heston) and a sister Hannah.

I had proposed a merge of Thomas when I saw the profile for John attached here.

Let me know if I can further assist.

Thank you for your help Heather. You are right. The birthdate should also go to the John born in NJ, son of Thomas. I will correct the errors. If you find any information on the John from PA, please let me know. It would be nice if immigration records could be found.

Hutchinson-5708 and Hutchinson-1562 appear to represent the same person because: Same spouse, children. Different date of birth and location may be due to poor source. More sources needed.

John's will names Phebe as his wife, but brother in laws named are John Burges and Mahlon Kirkbride. Phebe definetly died 1722/1724, and he married Sarah abt. 1726. This is confirmed by Quaker records which gives the children births.
