Biography

1877 Minnie Hurwirtz was born about 1877 in Lithuania, perhaps in Kavanna or in alternate names: Pikeliai [Lith], Pikeln [Yid], Pikeli [Rus], Pikiele [Pol], Pikelyay, Pikelių, Pikelē.^[1] She was the daughter of Jacob Hurwitz and Ida Pearl Nieman.^[2]

1893 Minnie immigrated to the USA about this time.^[1]

1898 About this time Minnie married Samuel Schwartz from Kiev, Russia.^[3]

1900 Minnie and Sam lived in Precinct 7 West Town Chicago city Ward 7, Cook, Illinois, USA in 1900 with their daughter and Minnie's father and brothers. Sam worked as a fruit dealer while Minnie's father was a dry goods peddler. Brother Abe was a cigarmaker. The household comprised:
