Benjamin Huntley, Sr. was born on March 3, 1741 in Lyme, New London, Connecticut. He was the son of Samuel Huntley and Ruth Huntley. Benjamin died after 1806 in Ontario, Canada.
Corporal Benjamin Huntley served with Colonel Seth Warner's Extra-Continental Regiment, Continental Army during the American Revolution.

Benjamin enlisted in the Revolutionary War on January 21, 1778 under Captain Nathan Smith and in Captain Gideon Bornson Company, General Arnold's Regiment at Montreal.
In 1789, Benjamin and his family were living in Elizabethtown, Luneburg, Ontario. Benjamin petitioned for a lot of land in Augusta, Leeds, Ontario. He was awarded Lot 70 in Augusta (200 acres) on October 30, 1789.
In 1797/98, he signed a Petition of Rev. Abel Stevens for additional land to accommodate more settlers. Benjamin was granted Lot 15 in the 9th Concession, in Bastard Township. His son Benjamin Jr. petitioned for a Deed to this lot on October 26, 1830.
Benjamin Huntley's first wife was Bethiah Duran (or Doran). They were married in about 1763 at Manchester, Bennington, Vermont. Bethia died in Vermont prior to 1789. Benjamin and Bethia had five children:
