Oscar James Hunt was born on the 23 January 1884^[1][2] at Little Glemham, Suffolk, England^[3][4], the son of George Hunt^[5][4] and Martha Meadows.

On the 28th November 1907, Oscar married Sarah Ann Smith at St. Martin of Tours, Chipping Ongar, Essex, England. Oscar James Hunt, 23, bachelor, railway lampman, of Chipping Ongar, son of George Hunt (platelayer); and Sarah Ann Smith, 24, spinster, servant of Chipping Ongar, daughter of William Smith (labourer).
