Biography

Hugh Hulse and Margery De Domville

A charter enrolled on the Chester Recognizance Rolls dated 14 September, 1395, is for a grant by John Brunstath, parson of Modberlegh church, and Thomas Swetenham, of Mobberley, to Cecilia, who was the wife of John Domville of Mobberley, of 14 messuages, 600 acres of land, 4 acres of meadow, 36 acres of wood, 4 acres of pasture, 80 acres of moor, 2 parts of one water mill, and the rent of one pair of gloves in Mobberley, the services of the tenants of Ralph del Boure, in Mobberley, and the advowson of Mobberley, all which estate John and Thomas had of the gift of Cecilia, by the title of all those lands, &c., which were of William de Mobberley, her father, to hold to the said Cecilia for life, with successive remainders, to Hugh de Holes and Margery, his wife, late wife of Henry son of Henry de Torbok, and daughter of the said Cecilia; Thomas son of the said Hugh and Margery, and the heirs of his body; Edmund, brother of the said Thomas, and the heirs of his body; the heirs of the body of the said Hugh; heirs of the body of the said Margery; Matilda and Ellen, sisters of the said Margery, and their heirs male; the right heirs of the said Cecilia forever. Witnessed by John de Mascy, of Tatton, Robert le Grosvenor, sheriff of Chester, Ralph de Vernon. Richard de Venables, John de Mascy, of Podynton, and John de Pulle, Knights ; John de Leicester, John de Holford, Thomas de Whelok, William de Stanlegh, senior, Thomas del Hogh, William de Hoton, and Henry Coly.[1]
