Robert "Bobby" Marvin Hull was born on 3 January 1939 in Pointe Anne, Ontario, Canada. He was the son of Robert Edward Hull and Lena Marguerite Cook.

Bobby was a professional ice hockey player from 1957 to 1980. Nicknamed The Golden Jet, he played in both the National Hockey League (NHL) and World Hockey Association (WHA) with the Chicago Black Hawks, Winnipeg Jets, and Hartford Whalers.

He became the first in NHL history to score more than 50 goals in a season when he netted 54 in 1965-66. He got to 50 or more goals in five seasons for the Blackhawks and led the NHL in goals seven times. Hull had 31 goals and 25 assists in his fourth season to help lead Chicago to the Stanley Cup championship in 1960-61, the Blackhawks' first in 49 years.

He was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983, the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame in 1997, and received the Wayne Gretzky International Award in 2003. In 2017 the National Hockey League named him one of the "100 Greatest NHL Players" in history.

Bobby Hull died on 30 January 2023.
