George was born 1835 in Union District of South Carolina, with father John and the rest of the family migrated west. In 1850, they are found in Hardeman County TN. Son John had married and had 3 children. In early 1862 George enlisted in 1st Mississippi Partisan Rangers later reorganized 7th Mississippi Cavalry under Col W Falkner. The 7th Mississippi Cavalry primarily served northern Mississippi, Tennessee and Alabama with its heaviest engagement occurring at Collierville TN while attached with Gen Chalmers. Serving faithfully and without harm until 'captured' in Alabama in 1865.[1][2]
