Communication Preferences:
I am interested in communicating with
close cousins.
My family tree is private but I want to collaborate on deep ancestors or historical figures.
I have been researching my family tree since the late 1980s, and my wife's since the early 2000s, and am still going strong. My tree is largely based around the counties of Essex and Cambridgeshire, with notable outliers, and my wife's is mainly based around the West Midlands.
Hi cousin, yes just working my through through this branch of our shared tree. No need to co-manage as I don't think I can add much more than the visitation link that I added, but many thanks for the offer,
Hi Colin, my name is Tommy Sewell and I was looking into my family tree recently. I usually use the ancestry site but came along this site in the process. I see you’ve done a lot of hard work in piecing together your family tree. I see my Nan (Pamela Sewell nee Huggins) isn’t included on Alice Sams & James Huggins family tree. Also her sister Ann/ Anne (unsure on spelling) Huggins not included. Thank-you, not sure if this was any help
Hi Tommy, I have updated it with details of your nan now. Pam was my aunt, as I am the son of her brother Peter. I have left her remaining sister off for privacy reasons as she is still living. Best regards, colin
Congratulations on your Pre-1500 badge. Please make sure you have reviewed https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Pre-1500_Resource_Page, also make sure you add pre-1500 to your followed tags so that you can help with questions that come up on G2G. You may want to take a look at our Medieval project https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Medieval to understand what our focus is on Pre-1500 profiles. As always, if you have questions, please ask.
Thanks for having a big heart and adopting the Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted". You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.
Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up GEDCOM biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!
Debi
PS If you have any GEDCOM cleanup to do, there is a new tool that can help. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.
Thanks for all your work on WikiTree. I noticed that you have begun adding profiles for the pre-1700 ancestors you have found in your search. Congratulations on getting back that far!
Since you are now back in the time period where many people can be descended from those ancestors, we need to be able to assess the relative reliability of sources and the evidence contained therein. Is the book you are citing online anywhere? Does it include the sources used for the information?
Hi Debi, I have a pdf copy of the book, but have not been able to find a google books/archive online copy. The book has a somewhat lengthy title: "A History of the ancient Flemish Family of Tayspyl, Taispil, Taispere, de Tayspere .... of Neuve Eglise and Ypres in west Flanders... Colchester, London, etc. compiled from original records and printed sources in both Belgium and England, 1272 - 1911." It was written by Joseph J Green, who was a president of the Friend's historical society, and who wrote many books and essays on the Quakers in Essex. It seems well sourced and goes into a lot of detail, much of which I have been able to cross verify from other sources. If you need any further information just let me know.
That sounds like an interesting source and it is excellent to know that you've been able to cross-verify. You didn't mention the copyright date for the book but, if the copyright period has ended, you might consider uploading it to InternetArchive for others to use also.
As you have been a member of WikiTree for a few weeks now, I thought I would check in to see how you are getting on with the site.
