Biography

William Huff was born about 1804 in Pennsylvania, the son of parents also born in Pennsylvania, as given in the 1880 Census.

He married Nancy (Loughlin or Loughtin?) whose parents were born in Ireland, according to the 1880 Census.

01 OCT 1850--William "Hough," aged 46, resided in Poland, Mahoning, Ohio. "Hough" members of his household: Nancy-43, b. in OH; Sarah-19, b. in PA; Eliza J.-17, b. in PA and Wm-14, b. in PA.

17 March 1853, his daughter, Sarah M. Huff married Jacob Loy in Mahoning Co., Ohio. (Entry of Wm. and Nancy as parents when Sarah Margaret Loy later passed away in Iowa.) ^[1]

By February 1857, William and Nancy Huff had moved to Perry Township, Jackson Co., Iowa, where their daughter, Elizabeth Jane Huff married "Berson" (Benson) Thomas.

27/28 June 1860, William-58 and Nancy-54 farmed in Perry Twp. Value of Real Estate was $1000 and Personal property $550.

09 July 1870 At the age of 66 and born in PA, William and his wife, Nancy, 62 and born in Ohio, lived in Maquoketa Township, Jackson, Iowa.

22 JUN 1880--Still living in Maquoketa, 76 year-old William, a farmer, had been born in PA, as had his parents, according the the census info. Nancy, now 74, gave her POB as Ohio and that her parents had both been born in Ireland.
