When his platoon was pinned down by heavy machine-gun fire in action at Edwards' Plantation, Corporal Hucker moved forward under intense enemy fire with a Bren gun and engaged the enemy single-handed. This enabled the platoon to move to a more favorable position, from which it launched a further successful attack.
