George Howard, 4th Earl of Suffolk was the son of Theophilus Howard, 2nd Earl of Suffolk and Elizabeth Home.
The 4th Earl of Suffolk. He was commissioned a captain in the Dutch States Army in 1646. In 1647, he became Master of the Horse to the Duke of York, and a Gentleman of the Bedchamber to the Duke in 1648.
He m. (1) Catherine Alleyne, dau. of John Alleyne, of Moggerhanger, co. Bedford 3 da. & (2) c. 1686 Anne Cowper (widow of James Cowper, 5th son of Sir William Cowper, 1st Bt.; dsp. 2 Jul 1710; bur. at Enfield, co. Middlesex), dau. of John Wroth, of Loughton, co. Essex, by his wife Anne Gallard, widow of Joshua Gallard, and dau. of Thomas Huxley. He succeeded his brother James Howard, 3rd Earl of Suffolk on 7 Dec 1689.
He d. 21 Apr 1691 (bur. at Saffron Walden, co. Essex). His titles were inherited by his younger brother Henry Howard, 5th Earl of Suffolk. In January 1688/9 he succeeded his brother, James Howard, 3rd Earl of Suffolk as Earl of Suffolk. He died in 1691 without male issue and was succeeded by his brother.
