Bernard Edward Howard, 12th Duke of Norfolk was born on 21 November 1765. He was the son of Henry Howard and Juliana Molyneux. He married Lady Elizabeth Belasyse, daughter of Henry Belasyse, 2nd Earl of Fauconberg of Newborough and Charlotte Lamb, on 23 April 1789. He and Lady Elizabeth Belasyse were divorced in 1794. He died on 16 March 1842 at age 76.

He gained the title of 12th Duke of Norfolk.
