Edward Howard, 9th Duke of Norfolk was born on 5 June 1686. He was the son of Lord Thomas Howard and Mary Elizabeth Savile. He married Mary Blount, daughter of Edward Blount and Anne Guise, on 26 November 1727.[1] He died on 20 September 1777 at age 91.

He succeeded to the title of 9th Duke of Norfolk in 1732. He succeeded to the title of 18th Baron Furnivall in 1732.

On his death, the Earldom of Norfolk became extinct.

Saturday between three and four in the afternoon, died at Norfolk-house, in St. James’s-square, the most noble Prince Edward Howard, Duke of Norfolk, Earl Marshal, and Hereditary Marshal of England, Earl of Arundel, Surry, &c. without issue, in the 92d year of his age; is succeeded in honour and estates by his second cousin Charles Howard, of Greystock, in Cumberland, Esq; now Duke of Norfolk, &c.
His Grace married on the 6th of November 1727, Mary, daughter and coheiress of Edward Blount, of Blagdon, in Devonshire, Esqr. His Grace had precedence of all other Dukes, not only by his creation, but likewise in respect of his office as Earl-Marshal of England; but being a Roman Catholic, this office was executed by a Deputy, who is the Earl of Scarborough.

He was succeeded in the title by his cousin, the 10th Duke, Charles Howard, so title does not appear to have become extinct.

Also note All the blood of all the Howards, with a little of other peoples, including the true history of Walter Hope Long Howard, lately discovered also an autobiography of the author and divers other matters by Howard, Walter Hope Long, 1759-1830? which provides case for Walter Hope Long Howard (descended from Hope Long of Wraxall on the maternal side) as being grandson of of Edward by a first wife, Katherine Askull, married in 1722 [1]

Howard-8310 and Howard-6668 appear to represent the same person because: Can't see Howard-6668's private father, but this looks like it should be the same Edward Howard, 9th Duke of Norfolk.
