William Houseman was born in Dacre, Yorkshire, England.

William was born in 1842^[1][2] in Dacre, Yorkshire^[2]. He was the son of Alice Houseman^[2]. Alice did not marry Heslington William Robinson (1814 - 1902)^[2] until 1846, but given William's full name (and that he gives Heslington as his father on his marriage record) there is a strong likelihood that he was William's biological father.

William married Ann Myers (1843 - 1911) on 20 April 1870 at Pateley Bridge ^[3]. They had four children: Heslington Willam Robinson Houseman (1871 - 1948), John Robinson Houseman (1873 - 1934), Ann Houseman (1876 - X) and Frederick Houseman (1879 - X).

He died, aged 78^[4], in 1921^[4].
