Biography

Previous research suggested Daniel's mother was Polly SILVER which is interesting in that his death record gives Elizabeth SULLIVAN as mother and the attending physician, was Dr. J. W. SILVER. There is a missing, or additional, "Daniel" generation between NC and IN that needs study. He is clearly from the PA>NJ>NC Hough Quaker group who moved through Randolph Co., NC according to Quaker records. [1] Which Daniel is our subject?

Daniel Lambert HOUGH (1833 IN-1915 Jennings Co., IN) md Nackey DIXON on 5 Oct 1856 in Marion Co., IN. [2]

Note the occupation of chair making, a common occupation, carpentry, in this branch of Hough's which began in which began in Bucks County, Pennsylvania .

Daniel served in Co. I, 37th Indiana Infantry and his widow received benefits when he died. [3]

In 1870 they lived in North Vernon twp hh# 102 with three daus: Charlotte, Maggie and Carrie. Real and personal estate values were $1500 and 100. [4]

In 1920 D. L. Hough and wife Nacky are enumerated in Bigger, Jennings, IN without children. They are 76 and 75 years respectively and gave history of five children, 3 living. He was apparently retired and living on "his own income."

Death & Burial

Nacky was the informant for his death record. Dr. J. W. SILVER was the attending physician. [5]

Daniel and Nacky are buried in Butler County, Indiana at Butlerville Cemetery with a double marker.
