Biography

Elizabeth Hornblow was born about 1818 in Broad Blunsdon, Wiltshire, England, the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth (nee Blake) Hornblow. She was baptised on 6 December 1818 at the Church of Broad Blunsdon, Wiltshire, England ^{[1] [2]}. She died of bronchitis and exhaustion at Burderop, Chiseldon, Wiltshire, England on 15 January 1890 ^[3]. Elizabeth was buried on 20 January 1890 at Chiseldon Cemetery, Wiltshire, England ^{[4] [5] [6]}.

On the 2 April 1845 Elizabeth married James Sexstone at the Church of Broad Blunsdon, Wiltshire, England ^[7]. They had 7 known children - Henry (1846), Frank (1847), Emma (1849), James (1851), Caroline (1852), Alice (1854) and Edwin (1857).

In the 1841 Census Elizabeth Hornblow was living at home with her Uncle Samuel a farrier 60yrs, father Robert a blacksmith 55yrs and siblings Robert 20, Henry 15, and Samuel 9; I have not identified her mother Elizabeth at this stage ^[8].

From 1851 until her death in 1890 Elizabeth was living with her husband and family at the Lodge of Burderop House in Burderop where James was the Bailiff and Gardener for the Calley family ^{[9] [10] [11] [12]}.
