Early Life

Henry, son of Henry James Horn & Harriet Marlborough, was born on 22 October 1889 at Bournehall Road, Bushey, Hertfordshire, England and baptised on 26 February 1890 in Bushey, Hertfordshire, England. [1] [2]

In the 1891 census Henry (age 1) was living with his parents and sister Harriet (3) at Back Lane Cottages, Back Lane in Bushey, Hertfordshire, England.[3]

In the 1901 census Harry (age 11) was living with his parents, brother Joseph (9) and sisters Lottie (5) and Mary (1) at 8, Upper Paddock Road,Bushey, Hertfordshire, England.[4]

In the 1911 census Thomas (age 21), was single and working as a Waiter at the Bushey Hall Golf Club, Bushey, Hertfordshire, England.[5]

Family 1

Henry married Alice Isabel Ford on 12 August 1912 at Christ Church, Watford, Hertfordshire, England. [6]

Their son Thomas Joseph Horn was born 11 February 1913 at 43 Victoria Road, Watford, Hertfordshire, England. [7]

Henry was a Gunner in the Royal Garrison Artillery during the First World War. [8]

In the 1921 census Thomas (age 28), Mercantile Marine, was the married son-in-law of Joseph Ford living with his mother-in-law Mary and son Tom (8) (recorded as Joseph) at 43, Victoria Road, Watford, Hertfordshire, England.[9]

Family 2

Henry married Florence (Morton) Hempstock in 1927 at Marrickville, New South Wales, Australia.[10]

Henry and Florence's only son, Norman James, was born 7 December 1928 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.[11]

Henry enlisted in the Australian Army on 10 December 1940 at Paddington, New South Wales, Australia and was discharged on 22 October 1945. His service number was N101333 and he served in the Officer Cadet Training Unit.[12]

Florence died in 1965 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.[13]

Henry visited the United Kingdom in 1968. He was reunited with his son Thomas Joseph and met his daughter-in-law, Elsie, and two grandchildren Terence Alfred Thomas and Kenneth Henry Horn.[14]

Death

Henry (age 79) died 9 March 1969 in Manly, New South Wales, Australia. [15]
