Biography

John Cutler Hooley was born in 1844 on the Isles of Scilly. He was the son of Samuel Cutler Hooley and his first wife Elizabeth. He was baptised on 4 July 1844 on the Isles of Scilly by his own father who was the curate of the parish of St Mary at this time. The family were living on the small island of St Agnes. ^{[1] [2] [3]}

As St. John Cutler Hooley, he married Louisa Wood in Moughyr, Bengal, India on 6 June 1868. St. John was 24 years old and his father was named as Samuel Cutler Hooley. Louisa was 19 years old. Her father was named as William Wood. ^[4]
