I am stuck on an ancestor named William Wilson Montgomery Jones, DOB (we think): 25 Feb 1825 either in Wales, at sea, or in Millerstown, Perry County, Pennsylvania, USA. These are all things he told different family members, census takers, as well as the US military for his service in Union army in his pension application file. He was a cagey old coot. His trade was as a blacksmith. He died April 14, 1907 in Nashville Tennessee. I can find no record of him prior to the Civil War. The mother of his daughters was, he said, Harriett Henrietta Byers, who died in 1875. I can find nothing else about her. Any help or suggestions for me to search would be appreciated. Supposedly there was a family Bible, but heaven only knows what happened to that. Help!
