It appears you are adding a lot of GEDCOM junk to various profiles, including your own. You are posting information which doesn't make sense to the viewer. There is a browser extension called WikiTree AGC (Automatic GEDCOM Cleanup), which cleans up profiles. See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:WikiTree_AGC
Suggest you review that and discuss with your mentor.
The annual Source-a-thon is coming up. It will be from September 29th to October 2nd.
Registration has begun!! I would be so blessed if you go to: Register now for the 2023 Source-a-Thon! - WikiTree G2G and answer that you are in and are a Legacy Heir!!!!
Thank you for your participation on Team Virginia in the July 2023 Connect-A-Thon. You helped bring Team Virginia to a 15th Place finish with 2,295 profiles added. We could not have done it without you! This year's Thon members added 95,575 new Profiles to the Global Shared Tree!! Here is The Wrap Up information
Jean (Holt) Stevens participated with The Virginia Connectors during the 2023 Connect-a-Thon, and added 35 connections.
I noticed that you're working on pre-1700 era profiles. This is just a reminder that certifying to work on these types of profiles means that you agree to add valid sources as outlined in the Pre-1700 Certification Quiz. Online family trees from sites like Ancestry, Family Search etc. aren't considered acceptable sources for pre-1700 profiles. Sometimes there are sources within the trees and profiles that you can use.
If you need help with this, our G2G Forum is a great place to start. You can get there by clicking the link on the Help menu.
We need the Kentucky Project Members to join the Kentucky Genealogical Society's WikiTree Challenge! We are going for the record.... over 500 new profiles!
Registration for the April Thon has started. It is going to be a connect-a-thon for the year of connections. The thon will start 22 Apr 2022 and, as always, run for 72 hours. I hope to have you with me for the Legacy Heirs team. I will understand though if it will not work out. Register so I can put you on the team roster.
Here is the Registration Link: https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1392037/have-you-registered-for-the-april-2022-connect-a-thon-yet?start=0#a_list_title
I see that you have created numerous pre-1700 profiles, with only an Ancestry tree as a source. Please review the sourcing requirements for pre-1700 profiles: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles#Cite_reliable_sources. There is a higher standard on WikiTree for any profile which is for a person who was born before 1700. Please go back and add proper sources to these profiles.
Thank you.
S. Willson
Jean, there is a reason for subheadings in biographies. They should not be removed in a wholesale fashion and not without consulting the profile manager. Please do not remove them without a valid reason and without approval.
I would like to query why you removed Mary Horton - Horton-4808 as the wife of Daniel Whitehouse.
You married him to Mary Sheldon in 1796, 15 years after the child, Charles, you added was born, and 33 years after Mary, whose profile I manage. You have also left Mary as the daughter of Daniel (but no longer Mary) and half sister of Charles.
It isn't clear to me the change you made was correct so can you please proove your reasons.
Note: There is a source for Daniel Whitehouse and Mary Horton's marriage.
Thank you.
I believe that I made an error. Mary is such a common 1st name in that era, I chose the wrong one. I tried to correct the errors you pointed out. Hopefully, I haven’t caused you too many problems.
You have confused Lucy with Lucinda (Thompson) Allison (1742-1824), whose parents were Mary Beaton and a different John Thompson. Lucy and Lucinda are reported as Rejected Matches.
Thanks for taking responsibility for Orphaned Profiles. For after the Clean-a-Thon is over, this After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.
If you will be working with any profiles needing GEDCOM cleanup, the AGC tool can help with formatting so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.
Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up GEDCOM biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!
Welcome all the wonderful, Legacy Heirs. I am so blessed to be in this team with you. Tomorrow (Friday) 8 am Eastern US and 5 am Pacific US. All other locations and time zones are at the equivalent time. I look forward to seeing you there, when you can be there.
Please be sure to add sources to profiles you add or edit. The sources are vital information - especially for pre-1700 profiles.
Thank you.
