Pleasant View Cemetery belonged to the former Pleasant View Methodist Church, located one half mile south and one mile west of the cemetery site, on the northwest corner of the intersection of 634 Avenue and 720 Road. Both properties were donated to the church circa 1885 by John Holman of Humboldt, Nebraska. The church, which shared a pastor with the Humboldt Methodist Church for most of its tenure, ceased to exist in the 1960s and the structure was torn down. One half mile south of the cemetery site, on the southeast corner of the intersection of 635 Avenue and 720 Road there is a marker commemorating the former site of Bratton Union School, the first consolidated school in Nebraska. The property for the school was also donated by John Holman of Humboldt. The school site also ceased to exist in the 1960s and the property was deeded back to his heirs.
