Hi Dana, my name is John W. Hollis. My grandfather also John W. Hollis was born in Roane County Tennessee in 1836. His older brother used PC Hollar (Patrick or Peter) was born in Roane County Tennessee in 1833. Their father Zachariah III was the son of Zachariah II (Jr.) born in PA. Zachariah and his younger brother John left PA to go to North Carolina to farm and develop land deals. Both Zachariah and John had sons named Zachariah born in No. Carolina in the year 1800. John and his son Zach moved to Ohio and Indiana. Now in addition to the moving about and spelling their name different ways my grandfather John left Tennessee for Springfield, Illinois in 1858 or earlier.

If all of that wasn't confusing enough then the fact that Tennessee and Kentucky shared a border that changed from time to time. So, in 1850 the census of Kentucky had the family of Zach III married to Sarah Dann with pc and John et.al. in line. Now Hollars 37 and 46 are the same person. We and some other folks need to collectively correct the data regarding the families of Zacharias Hollers and Anna Wannamacher who left Germany in1742ish and came to the US. Contact me so that we can properly align these families. John Hollis

As part of an annual check-in of the WikiTree US Presidents Project we are asking members if they are planning to continue their contributions to the project. We are establishing a page where everyone can identify the President or Vice President that they wish to manage. Just respond to this message to let me know 1) Are you planning to continue with the Project and 2) do you have a specific President or Vice President that you are interested in.

Hi Dana,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or special event. Read the goals and tasks of the project and join if it is a good fit.

Let me know if you have trouble finding projects which fit your focus. Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.
