Biography

Julia was born in 1910. She was the daughter of Wilson Holcomb and Martha Ann Mayfield. She passed away in 1992.[1][2]

Julia married Wilbur Clyde Scogin on November 11, 1929 in Peoria, Illinois.[3]

Julia was buried in Westview Cemetery in Blacksburg, Montgomery County, Virginia.[4]

Obituary

ELLISTON - Julia D. Scogin, age 81, died Wednesday, July 22, 1992 at Montgomery Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Scogin was born in Summerset, Kentucky to the late Wilson and Martha Ann Mayfield Holcomb. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Clydette Johnson.

Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Wilbur C. Scogin; one daughter and son-in-law, Joanne S. and H. M. "Buzz" Scanland, Elliston; one sister, Alice Mayer, Bloomington, Ill.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at McCoy Funeral Home Chapel, Blacksburg. The Rev. Roger N. Rhoads will officiate. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.[4]
